NO MORE DEATHS IN CUSTODY (United Families & Friends Campaign)

On the 29th of October we will be attending NO MORE DEATHS IN CUSTODY (United Families & Friends Campaign) in London.

The aim of the trip is to record the march and get interviews from the people attending. It is a very delicate and emotional subject therefore we have to be careful with what we ask, and how we ask it.

For this week we had to suggest 5 questions. Here are my suggestions:

What brings you here? - I am expecting the story of the friend/family member who has passed away in this way. As Ken suggested, people will tend to speak quite a lot about this one.

What would justice be for you? - Initially I suggested to ask what the people expect of the demonstrations, what solutions they see, but I expect all of them to say they want Justice as this is their slogan. "What do we want? Justice! When do we want it? Now!". Therefore asking what justice would be for them will go further.

When would you stop protesting? - I expect them to say When justice is done. From this we can go onto the next question as they are tightly connected and ask:

If something is done about this, would you still organise these Campaigns as a memorial?
- The answer to this might have mixed answers. Some might say that there can't be a solution so big that it will completely stop this happening. Some might say that they would transform it in a celebration of the success and the people's lives. It is quite a subjective question that would have a variety of answers.

More questions will come up on the spot whilst speaking to the people and observing what is happening and what else is said. We just need to decide on a direction in which we want to go with the documentary, so when we put it together we don't contradict each other.
